Trees in Encarnia Empty
PostSubject: Trees in Encarnia   Trees in Encarnia EmptyThu Aug 03, 2017 6:42 pm

Okay, so there will be 2 types of trees in Encarnia: Wood trees and Fruit trees. All trees can be climbed by using CLIMB TREE and it will basically take you to the top of the tree(Which works out because apparently you can goto objects, so we won't have to make a new room for this), if you have the skill to do so. There will more than likely be more than one tree in a room, so you can INFO HERE to see the number of the tree you want to climb, then use CLIMB TREE <#>. I suppose we can put that skills either in the Sylvani skillset or a general skillset. Whichever. And for chopping down trees, we can probably assume that will be a beginning skill in a general skillset, so everyone can do it.

Lets start with Wood Trees:

  • They would populate on their own. We don't want trees to take forever to grow. If a player comes and chops down one three, that tree would automatically start its growth cycle over, starting as a sprout. The growth cycle will be listed below.

  • Limit three wood trees to a single room. (This is not set in stone).

  • Wood trees would be solely used for chopping down for wood, for whatever reason. To build a fire, furniture, etc.

  • One wood tree would yield, say, 10 wood. This number is not set in stone so it can be changed as needed.

  • Wood trees will be: oak, pine, maple (unless we want to add more)

Also, Sylvani can step in and "tend" to any tree with their extreme green thumb, making them grow quickly.

So, the stages of life for a wood tree:

  • A sprout (Baby stage. It is beginning to sprout and grow. Wood trees start here.)
  • A seedling
  • A sapling (it is obviously bigger and begins to become more sturdy)
  • Mature Tree (This is the only stage where the tree can be chopped for wood.)
  • Elder Tree
  • Ancient Tree

Now, fire can kill off trees at any stage of life. Fires would need to be put out with water/rain in a room before trees can once again begin to grow. If a fire is burning in an area, it will just continually kill off any trees that populate.

Fruit trees will basically work the same way. You can climb mature ones, just like wood trees. You can burn them. You can even chop them for wood, but they will produce less wood.

(In my original plan, only Sylvani can harvest fruit from trees, like in Avalon. Please give me your thoughts on this)

On mature fruit trees, players can HARVEST FRUIT command in a room and if there are, say, three fruit trees in the room they would need to use HARVEST FRUIT, tree times for each fruit tree.

Fruit trees could only be harvested once an in game day (maybe more? This can be changed as needed)

Once the fruit is harvested, players can either keep the fruit to eat or give away, to HARVEST SEED. Players would need to use HARVEST SEED for however many fruits they hold that they want to get seeds from.

Once the fruit tree seeds are harvested, they can plant them in areas that need fruit trees. PLANT SEED will need to be used in a forest location to plant a tree. If the room had 3 fruit trees planted already, the player will not be able to plant another. Maybe a text comes up saying "Planting another fruit tree here would be harmful to the already growing trees."

There can only be three fruit trees in a single room ( That makes 6 trees all together with wood trees and fruit trees)

Fruit trees will be: Apple, pear and plum (unless we want to add more)

Stages of growth for all trees:
Freshly planted mound (where a player has just planted a tree. Fruit trees start here)
A sprout (Baby stage. It is beginning to sprout and grow. Wood trees start here.)
A seedling
A sapling (it is obviously bigger and begins to become more sturdy)
Mature Tree (fruits will start to be produced.)
Elder Tree (Fruits can still be produced)
Ancient Tree (Fruits will be produced.)
